Installation

“I wanted to pay the song the ultimate homage and physically exhibit ‘Africa’ in Africa,” the 27-year-old artist told the BBC “Some [Namibians] love it, and some say it’s probably the worst sound installation ever. I think that’s a great compliment.”

A Namibian Artist has completed the most bizarre "sound installation" in recent years by installing 7 pedestals with solar-powered speakers and mp3-player somewhere in the middle of the Namibian desert which only have 1 song loaded:

The 1982 hit " Africa " by the artist Toto which is playing in a continuous loop.

The installation is done at an undisclosed Location in the Namib desert and received mixed feelings from the local and international audience of which some shared their disgust with regards to environmental concerns about the installation in untouched nature whilst others embraced the unique creativity of the artist.

More information on the Artist and the installation can be found on his website: maxsiedentopf.com

Whether the installation is creative or harmful towards the environment is a question on it's own, we feel however the artist should be respected essentially for bringing the Namibian country on the Map by big entities including the Rolling Stone ( View Article Here ) and BBC publishing articles about the installation.

What is your view on the unique " sound installation" in the Namib Desert?
